Data Hub Update Includes Corrections to Various Data Elements

In order to provide timely update, data related to COVID19 cases is entered for use on the Rowan data hub as soon as it is received from the State Reporting System. As our public health nurses conduct COVID19 investigations, staff may discover anomalies that have to be corrected. Examples of this include addresses and demographic information. An incorrect address can cause us to need to correct the municipality or zip code to accurately reflect those addresses once confirmed. We can also have instances where a case needs to be removed completely because we discover the address provided is actually in a different county. Another example of that data that may need correction after investigation is demographic information such as age, race, or ethnicity.

These corrections may be needed due to accidental omission on the paperwork, inability to identify what was written, or a simple entry error. Today’s data hub update reflects the corrections to these various data elements. As the Rowan County COVID-19 Response Team, we understand the value of accurate information and do our best to provide this data in both a timely manner and with transparency when data must be updated to reflect changes that arise through the investigation process.
