Salisbury Declares State of Emergency Ahead of Protests

Salisbury Mayor Karen Alexander has declared a state of emergency for the downtown district on Tuesday, June 2, ahead of another night of possible protests.

According to a Salisbury statement, “Due to escalating behavior by individuals related to the protests, Mayor Alexander made the declaration, effective immediately, which imposes a curfew from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. in the Downtown Municipal Service District. The state of emergency will be in place until further notice.” 

Free Legal Assistance to Businesses during the COVID-19 Pandemic

The North Carolina Pro Bono Resource Center has announced free assistance to medium and small businesses with COVID-19 legal questions.  Qualifying small businesses and nonprofits will be offered free 45-minute consultations free of charge.
