Rowan County Case Information:

Public Health Command Center Shares Information to Help Flatten the Curve

All citizens are urged to Stay-at-Home unless travel is for essential purposes (food, medication, employment).  Minimizing your travel significantly reduces the chances of coming into contact with others that may be infected, coming into contact with contaminated objects, or endangering high risk individuals.  Even those not displaying symptoms may get others sick.  Please help us Flatten the Curve!

How COVID-19 Spreads:

  • Between people who are in close contact with one another (6 feet).
  • Through respiratory droplets produces when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

When does it spread?

People are most contagious when they have symptoms, which include fever, cough and shortness of breath.

Can you get it from touching contaminated objects?

Possibly.  If you touch a surface with the virus on it, then touch your mouth, nose, or eyes, it is possible to contract the virus (but not likely to be the main way the virus spreads).

Who is considered high risk?

  • Those in close contact with person diagnosed with COVID-19.
  • People 65 years of age and older.
  • People with underlying health conditions (i.e. heart/lung/kidney disease, diabetes, weakened immune system, etc.)
