Schedule Your Child’s COVID-19 Vaccine Today

Children ages 5 to 11 can now receive a lower dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine that will help to protect them from getting seriously ill from COVID-19. During the most recent surge of COVID-19, pediatric cases rose by about 240% in the United States, demonstrating the desperate need to protect children from this virus. 

Children, 5 to 11 years of age, will be given two doses of the Pfizer vaccine. Each dose is only one-third the amount given to people 12 and older. As with other routine vaccinations for children, the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine underwent a thorough testing and review process by the FDA and an independent scientific committee to ensure it is safe and effective for children. 

At this time, everyone ages 5 and older can now receive a free Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, even if they don’t have health insurance and regardless of their immigration status. 

Here locally, the following businesses and agencies will begin offering this lower dose of the Pfizer COVID -19 vaccine:

  • StarMed (outside Rowan County Public Health in side parking lot) - Appointments are preferred and can be made at starmed.care
  • Rowan County Public Health- Please call 704-216-8777; Option 3 to make an appointment
  • Salisbury Pediatric – Please call 704-636-5576 for more information and to make an appointment
  • Novant Health COVID-19 Pediatric Vaccine Clinic – Appointments are available Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 am to 5 pm at the J.F. Hurley YMCA; please sign up by visiting getvaccinated.org and make an appointment in MyChart
  • Moose Pharmacy -Appointments and walk-ins are now welcome; please call 704-636-6340 for more information
