Rowan County COVID-19 Case Information: https://bit.ly/rowan-covid19-hub

Active COVID Cases Continue to Rise for Rowan

The seriousness of COVID and the Delta variant within Rowan County continues to increase daily. The numbers tell it all!  As of yesterday, Rowan County reported 711 new, active COVID cases in the past 7 days, with a COVID test positivity rate of 19.1%. In addition to that, the Triad Healthcare Preparedness Coalition (THPC), which Rowan County is a part of, reported on Tuesday that is has 677 hospitalizations due to COVID. Of those hospitalizations, 159 adults are in ICU and 229 adults are currently on ventilators.

If you are feeling bad and/or if you know that you have been in contact with someone that may have COVID, Rowan County Public Health highly encourages you to get tested as soon as possible. The following businesses and/or agencies are currently offering testing. Please contact the business/agency directly to find out more information about any cost associated with the testing and if an appointment is required.

In the meantime, while you wait for your test results, we encourage you to stay at home and isolate yourself from others in case you are positive and in hopes that you will not infect anyone else. Please see the following   guidance from CDC, if you think or know you have COVID-19 or if you are having symptoms. Remember, the following symptoms may appear 2–14 days after exposure to COVID-19 and may include:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Tiredness
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

Due to the large number of positive cases that we are seeing, please know that Rowan County Public Health is working diligently with our investigation team to prioritize cases. At this time, our major focus is on congregate and long-term care facilities due to how contagious the Delta variant is and how many individuals can be affected by a single, infected person. It is important to know, however, that if you do get tested for COVID-19 and your results come back positive, you will receive a very detailed text message from NC DHHS advising you what steps you need to take to make sure that you do not infect anyone else, as well as what you need to do in order to take care of yourself. We highly encourage you to utilize this guidance, if you should be diagnosed with COVID.

If you should have additional questions and/or concerns about COVID-19, please feel free to contact our COVID Hotline at 980-432-1800 or visit our website. In addition to this, if you and/or your loved one still needs to get their COVID vaccination, please feel free to contact Rowan County Public Health at 704-216-8837 to schedule an appointment. Appointments are available Monday afternoons and Thursday mornings.
