Rowan County COVID-19 Case Information: https://bit.ly/rowan-covid19-hub

Rowan County’s Active COVID Cases and Positivity Rate Are of Great Concern

Rowan County unfortunately continues to see our active COVID-19 cases rapidly grow. Just in the past two weeks, we have had 1,230 new cases reported, and we now have an 18.2% positivity rate. With more people getting sick and with Delta variant being even more contagious then previous variants, it is no surprise that within the Triad Healthcare Preparedness Coalition (THPC), which Rowan County is a part of, that we are seeing an increase in the number of hospitalizations and those admitted into ICU. On August 15th, the THPC reported 619 adult hospitalizations due to COVID; and of those, 161 of these individuals were admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) based on the severity and/or complications of the virus. Of those being admitted, the vast majority of the individuals are currently unvaccinated.

With our numbers continuing to increase once again and the severity of the virus increasing, Rowan County Public Health cannot emphasize enough the importance of getting vaccinated, which is the best way to protect yourself and those you come in contact with. With that said, you can use the CDC’s vaccine finder to help locate a number of local agencies/businesses that are also offering COVID vaccines within Rowan County, such as:

  • Novant Health at the J. F. Hurley YMCA; Walk-ins are accepted Wednesdays and Fridays; 8 am – 5 pm
  • Larger chain pharmacies: CVS and Walgreens
  • Grocery Stores: Walmart, Food Lion (Salisbury and China Grove), Sam’s Club
  • Local pharmacies: Moose Pharmacy, The Medicine Shoppe, and Cannon Pharmacy
  • Provider offices: Rowan County Public Health, Rowan Diagnostic Clinic, Pro Med, and Salisbury Pediatric (only for established patients)

To find out more information about which vaccines are being offered and when they are being offered, please contact the agency/business directly.  In addition to this, please note that Summer Cash Cards are no longer being offered at the J.F. Hurley YMCA, as a part of the Novant Vaccination Clinic. Due to the limited supply of Summer Cash Cards, they are now only available at Rowan County Public Health through an appointment. To schedule an appointment for your COVID vaccine, please call 704-216-8837.

In closing, Rowan County Public Health has recently received numerous requests for new COVID vaccination cards due to previous ones being misplaced or lost. Please know that if you have already set up an account and a username with the state’s CVMS portal, you can view and print your COVID vaccination information by visiting https://covid19.ncdhhs.gov/covid-19-vaccine-portal-residents. Step-by-step instructions can be found at  https://covid19.ncdhhs.gov/vaccines/after-youve-been-vaccinated/your-vaccine-information.  For those individuals that do not have account, please call our COVID-19 Team at 980-432-1800 and one of our staff will be more than happy to assist you.
