Rowan Wild is home to more than 40 species of wildlife! The Nature Center and Rowan Wildlife Adventures exclusively exhibit native North Carolina animals, with over 30 different species represented between the two. Rowan Wild is also home to the T.M. Stanback Barnyard which houses a collection of barnyard animals.
Most of our animals have been permanently injured or have imprinted, meaning they have no fear of humans and never learned the skills they need to survive in the wild. We also house endangered species that are part of the Species Survival Plan, a national breeding and management plan that helps to sustain the number of individuals within an endangered species in an attempt to conserve them for future generations.
