Summer Reading is for everyone! There are three age brackets: children’s (ages 10 and under), teens (ages 17 and under), and adults (ages 18 and up). Each age group has the opportunity to log reading hours and win awesome prizes, attend themed programming, and complete fun take away kit activities.
Children (ages 10 and under)
Summer Reading for Children is designed to include children ages 10 and under and includes take away activities, programming, and incentives for reading hours logged. Ages 10 and under earn prizes after logging 5, 10, 15, and 20 reading hours. Prizes can be picked up at any branch. Children who earn 20 points receive a special certificate and are entered into the Super Reader Raffle, which will be held August 9. Reading incentive prizes can be claimed at any branch through August 31, 2021.
All ages may track their hours using paper logs available at their nearest branch or via READsquared, an online reader’s advisory and tracking program. On or after May 15, get started by visiting READsquared. Registration remains open until August 5.
Teens (ages 11 - 17)
Summer Reading for Teens is designed for rising 6th through 12th graders and includes reading incentives, a deluxe take away kit and related how-to video, and virtual writers club meetings.
Teens (ages 11 to 17) are invited to cash in the hours they spend reading between May 27 and August 7 for raffle tickets to win great prizes! This year’s Teen Summer Reading raffle prizes include a $100 gift certificate to South Main Book Company, a new Kindle tablet, a Fitbit fitness tracker, art sets, a portable hammock, and more! When teens convert their reading hours into raffle tickets, they select the raffles that they want to enter.
All ages may track their hours using paper logs available at their nearest branch or via READsquared, an online program that allows readers to track their hours. On or after May 15, get started by visiting READsquared.

Adults (ages 18 and up)
Summer Reading for Adults is designed for ages 18 and up (including 2021 high school graduates) and includes reading incentives, a deluxe take away kit and related how-to video, a short story contest, and virtual programs.
Reading hours logged by adult readers determine eligibility for tiered prizes. Readers are automatically entered into drawings as they complete each level. All ages may track their hours using paper logs available at their nearest branch or via READsquared, an online reader’s advisory and tracking program. On or after May 15, register by visiting READsquared. Registration remains open until August 5. For more information, email Abby or call 704-216-8248.
