The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office is affording rising 8th-10th graders the opportunity to experience law enforcement first hand. The academy will be similar in nature to that which actual police cadets attend. Students will learn the basic functions of a working sheriff’s office as well as have a chance to explore the idea of a possible career in this ever changing and demanding field.
Students will attend regular classes with topics to include, but not limited to:
North Carolina law
Students will have the opportunity to practice what they learn in practical exercises. The academy is one week long, Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Students are accepted by application.
